SUMMARY:F25-1208A\, Current Topics in Biotechnology from NVCC
DESCRIPTION:This class will address current topics in biotechnology from the perspective of two NVCC professors who are preparing NVCC students for careers in this increasingly important field. \nPresenter: Professors Xin Zhou and Vinjaya Gandreti\nDr. Xin Zhou is a biologist with over 20 years of research and teaching experience. He holds a PhD degree in Biology from Texas A&M University and a BS in Biology from the University of Science & Technology of China.   Dr. Zhou’s professional background spans several prestigious institutions\, including Texas A&M University\, Cornell University\, Georgetown University\, and George Washington University. He has extensive research expertise in plant molecular biology\, cancer biology\, and wound healing.  Dr. Zhou is currently the Program Head of the Biotechnology Program and a full professor at Northern Virginia Community College Manassas Campus\, where he has taught since 2016.  \nVijaya Gandreti currently serves as an Associate Professor of Biology at Northern Virginia Community College at Manassas campus. Prior to this\, she also gained professional experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. She has a master’s degree in bioinformatics from George Mason University and a master’s degree in microbiology from Osmania University in India. \nLLI Coordinator: Mike Ahern
